One day after riding 26 miles on my heavy duty solid steel 21
speed
mountain bike I found myself in great pain. Both knees had given out at the same time. Fortunately my riding companion had a cell phone and called for a truck to haul me and my bike back home. What an embarrassment! After spending close to a year recovering from my injuries it dawned on me that either I was getting older, the hills were getting steeper, and my knees were turning to mush. All at the same time. I started a serious search to find a way to power my bike. I checked all the shop on the market ranging from whacked out weed eaters to belt driven motorcycle engines reminiscent of 1921 Harleys. None of the items I found had everything I was looking for which was range, speed,
dependability and a decent price. Being I'm not rich. Then quite by accident I stumbled onto Dimension EDGE and the rest is history. I called them on the phone, placed my order and drove to Billings MT to pick up a Tecumseh engine kit. I rushed home and bolted it up to my bike. Fastened the cables and clamps, did a little tweaking and an hour later I was riding through the neighborhood having the time of my life. Talk about drawing attention. It was hard to get anywhere because people kept waving me over to ask where they could they get one like it. Several people offered to buy it on the spot. I imagine it won't be long before I start seeing a lot of other people like myself in the area who have coddled themselves a little in their old age and have opted for a power assist like I did. I live in east of Denver in Aurora where gas is running around $1.75 a gallon and it's going up every day. At 200
miles per gallon I just pull into the Texaco every so often and pay them about .30 cents to fill up. It's a kick to watch the cashiers face as the meter stops running before it gets started. In fact, I can hardly get my finger off the trigger in time!
The Denver metro area has a lot of long hills which I normally had to push my bike up and then coast down. This because at 50 I just can't cut it anymore. Well, not any more. I just hit the gas and go. It's great. Even at this altitude the 49er' really rips right along. It has plenty of power to haul my 215 lbs plus my trailer and what ever I decide to haul in it. That is usually all the junk I need to go trout fishing and spend the night comfortably in a campground with munchies. I always carry a bit of extra gas mixed up. I really enjoy the security of knowing that I can peddle 20 miles or so and still be able to get back home regardless of how tired or sore I might be. I even ride my bike during the winter time now using the all weather drive wheel, something I rarely did before. I get all the traction I need in snow and slush which I think is pretty cool. My tires are a combination
all weather slick with a V tread which gives me good control in crappy weather and allows the drive wheel to really lock onto the tire. My tires aren't as good as the ones EDGE offers here but I have ordered some and am looking forward to trying them out in the Rockies.
Did I mention the fact that this is for real? I am a100% satisfied customer. You can drop me a line anytime at

to confirm it if you would like. If you write me you'll have to forgive me if I brag about Dimension EDGE and their service. They have really impressed me with what they can do and how fast they respond. When they say they can retrofit any bicycle they mean it because my bike is no ordinary 26" it has a full 24" high frame. Also if the Dimension EDGE shop weren't as good as they said, I wouldn't have spent the time writing this and you wouldn't be reading it. So give them a call and start enjoying your bike riding like I am doing right now.

Ready to power up your bike? It's so easy anyone can do it with simple tools.
It took me about an hour or so with a couple of box wrenches and a screw driver to get the
system bolted on, adjusted and running.
Then I went for a long ride.
After that I sat down to read the
Power to Spare.
Simple Clutch.
Simple Throttle.
Simple Shutdown.
